Thank You
It has been my pleasure to serve as your district superintendent for the past seven years. I have had the opportunity to serve with some of the most effective clergy in our annual conference. I have also had the pleasure of being in all of our churches in the Southeast District. We have some very beautiful and splendid churches. I can see the love and devotion that has been placed in building and maintaining our churches.
I have been blessed to know so many gifted lay persons. As a district, we have been truly blessed with so many skillful lay people who are willing and able to serve in our churches, the district, and in leadership roles in our annual conference. I am very thankful for each lay person and the gifts they employ for the local church.
We all need to be thankful for the ministry of Charlene Gerads. Charlene has been a blessing to three superintendents. Charlene is a very talented and dedicated assistant that holds the entire district together while the superintendent is driving around the district. She is a gift from God to each and every pastor and church in our district.
It was also a wonderful, growing experience to work with all the outstanding people on the cabinet. To experience the gifted leadership of both Bishop Salley Dyck and Bishop John Hopkins was a blessing to me. And, to have support and encouragement of my superintendent colleagues, was both helpful and beneficial. I was honored to be a member of the Cabinet.
I hope you will all take the opportunity to welcome Clay Oglesbee as your new River Valley Superintendent. Clay is a wonderful pastor with many gifts for ministry and Christian service. Transitioning from the parish to the district is not always an easy task. With your help and support Clay will be a very effective superintendent and leader and will serve our new district well. Please pray for Clay and his wife Mary Lynn as they come onto the district.
I leave you with a great deal of hope for the future of the United Methodist Church in our wonderful part of the state. This is a beautiful place to live with a number of growing areas. We have exceptional clergy and lay people in leadership roles to help move us forward. More importantly, the Spirit of God continues to move across the face of our district. May God continue to bless us all.
Blessings, Mike Wuehler |
